Michael Hirsch Assessment Testing
Social Apperception / Social Awareness - This subtest measures an individual's ability to associate facial and gestural expressions with real-life verbal expression. Items in this subtest require the examinee to listen to a professional actor speak; he /she is then required to choose the visual expression, gesture, or body posture that most appropriately matches the emotion expressed orally by the speaker.
Social Apperception probes the examinee's attention to the nuances of social and emotional expression as manifested in different facial, gestural, and body posture positions. Knowledge of implied meanings in a variety of verbal and visual prompts is necessary. Attention to detail, social awareness, and range of social experiences may influence performance on this subtest.
